Aaliyah: La La La & No Days Go By (Exclusive Unreleased Music)

After so many years #TeamAaliyah have finally been blessed as of yesterday with not one but two exclusive unreleased demo tracks by our beloved Babygirl. I was a bit reluctant to post these at first, since there are a lot of legal issues involving Aaliyah's music in general. The smallest of things like not having access to her music on streaming sites such as Spotify, iTunes, Tidal etc...is very heartbreaking and disappointing as a fan, since Aaliyah worked very hard for her fans in order to have her music out there. Witnessing this before our very own eyes going to waste, is not a very nice thing at all. However it's not everyday we as fans get to hear new music on such a grand scale as this, so let's enjoy this moment whilst it lasts, for I am not sure how long this video will be on Youtube.

A HUGE thank you to all of those within the fanbase who personally messaged and tagged me so that I wouldn't miss seeing this. I truly appreciate you guys! You are nothing but short of amazing, and I am very thankful. Thanks also to @burrellbrothersentertainment for uploading these gems! We as fans are beyond happy! 🙏🏽💚 The pure joy and love I felt upon listening gave me straight goosebumps, and since then, I've had both these tracks on heavy rotation. I woke up yesterday morning listening to 'La La La' first and automatically tears came running down my face. The production first and foremost is reminiscent from the 'One In A Million' era. Lyrically the song is also so beautifully put together that it makes you feel like you're literally on cloud 9 up above in the heavens so high 😍. In comparison to the second track which you're probably thinking hold on..."But we've already heard that one!" Which you are true to say, however this version of No Days Go By, features a sample from Slick Rick where he says...

"It's all because of you, I'm feeling sad and blue.
You went away, and now my life is filled with rainy days."

You can listen to the original sample below which is from Slick Rick & Doug E.Fresh - La Di Da Di (ironic how even the titles are very similar right? 😄) which comes at 2:47 if you wanna go straight to it. What you will find interesting from this joint is that a lot of bars you hear have been heavily sampled from many iconic hip hop artists. However, Slick Rick is the original OG, and for that we have to give him is dues! Funnily enough, when I heard the sample in No Days Go By, I automatically felt like I had heard it from somewhere before, and now I see why! I also love the fact how Aaliyah yet again shows both the female and male perspective and for that, I feel like the song is more complete. 😇

And now for the one you're eager to listen to 😎 Enjoy!

Happy 16th Anniversary to Aaliyah's Red Album!

Artwork by yours truly! 😊❤️

#Happy16thAnniversary to Aaliyah’s self titled album also known as the #RedAlbum and Aaliyah’s baby! 😄🎉❤ Every year I always try my best to make a tribute, so today I decided to represent our highest most exalted Queen as the mature woman she had become during this era and growth. With each year, and each caption, I always find myself describing and learning from this album in many different ways. It’s only as I’ve grown older, that I truly understand the deeper meaning behind the lyrics Aaliyah and #StaticMajor conveyed to us all. With each listen, I’m constantly learning new things from each track on this album, and how much of an impact she truly made in such a short amount of time. The fact that she was only 22, yet her maturity could pass for someone 20 years older! Wise beyond her years! 😩

She was such a private person too, but with this album she gave us an inside look as to who the REAL Aaliyah was as a person, singer, daughter, sister, lover, model, actress, dancer, performer and overall…a bad ass woman showing us female empowerment way before any other female artist ever did! 💁

To me, this album is the blueprint that started it all, paving the way for other female artists to learn that it’s OK to step out your comfort zone, trying something innovative and outside the norm. Taking a chance on people who are new to the game because you are willing to take a risk and chance, to create ever lasting longevity, that will forever stand the test of time as one of the greatest! Thank you to everyone who contributed to this album. You all created something during a time where albums actually had value, meaning and depth, instead of just playstreams and downloads etc…Forever grateful for having this physical copy! 🙏💚

As a special surprise I also have a video I made which I would like to share with all of #TeamAaliyah. Here is a rare remix of Aaliyah’s Don’t Know What To Tell Ya (kind of fitting seeing as how the original single was meant to be on the third album, but didn’t make the final cut, until it was eventually included on the posthumous compilation album, ‘I Care 4 U’ released in 2002).☺️
Full credit goes entirely to @saba_hattin via Twitter who kindly shared and managed to find this very rare remix from one of his old CD’s. Thank you so much for sharing with all of #TeamAaliyah! You have no idea how much life this brings to our ears! 😩🙏💚
This particular track was aired on the French radio station Skyrock & remixed by Dj Goldfinger around 2003. Here’s to our highest most exalted Queen! Happy listening! 😉❤️

There are so many favorites to choose from, but I particularly love the Intro, Try Again, Rock The Boat and We Need A Resolution! The creative process of mixing those beats is just too dope! Aaliyah Archives News: Timbaland's 'King Stays King' Mixtape & The Origins Of 'He Keeps Me Shakin'

First and foremost, I would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday! I hope everyone has been in good spirits as 2015 comes to a close end. As some of you may be aware, I was away on holiday last week, so hence why I was unable to post anything until now! ;)

Yesterday, our man Timbaland finally released his mixtape 'King Stays King' featuring the highly anticipated, unreleased song by our beloved Babygirl. Some of you may remember me mentioning this particular track before, but for those of you who don't, you can check out my previous post via the link here.  On Tim's mixtape it's titled 'Shakin' but just to let it be known, the original is actually called 'He Keeps Me Shakin' which was originally written by Digital Black (from the group Playa) and produced by Eric Seats & Rapture Stewart (a.k.a- KeyBeats).

Unfortunately this particular track did not get around to being completed in time, with only the hook/chorus sung by Aaliyah. According to YouKnowIGotSoul the original version of this track, was presumably recorded around 1999–2000. All I can say is wow....to this day I have always shown my love and appreciation to all the producers that worked with Aaliyah, especially on the red album, since her music still sounds fresh and current to this very day, so thank you! To listen you can do so via the link here where you can also download the app MyMixtapez via the apple or google play store free of charge! For anyone else who just wants to skip straight to the Aaliyah track, you can listen right here below! Be sure to comment below your feedback on this new joint, since I am very curious to hear peoples opinions! :o) One love!

They Call Me Timbaland 2: Narrated By Magoo (Official Mixtape)

So it's been awhile since I last posted, but as you all know I like to keep everyone updated on the latest ;) A couple days ago, Timbaland released his second part of his mixtape titled They Call Me Timbaland 2, which is narrated by his partner in crime Magoo (everyone's been wondering where he's been hiding right? lol), presented by DJ Supa. The second mixtape consists of 11 tracks along with how Magoo first met Timbaland. Any Aaliyah fans who missed the first mixtape, I highly recommend y'all cop that since there are some beautiful memories shared of Babygirl by Timbaland himself. For those who missed the first part of this mixtape, you can visit my last post via the link here for more information. Anyone who wishes to receive these mixtapes please email via theaaliyaharchives@gmail.com. One love! :o)

They Call Me Timbaland: Narrated By Playa (Official Mixtape)

So since Christmas is fast approaching, and I am a generous, giving person, I would like to share with you all an official mixtape released by Timbaland which is narrated by Playa crew members Smoke E. Digglera and Digital Black. This is my way of just saying a huge thank you to all my loyal readers, fans, followers, etc... who have been down for me from day one. I appreciate you all, so thank you for your support :o) (If you would like to have this mixtape please email me via theaaliyaharchives@gmail.com and I shall personally email it to you.)

I highly recommend this mixtape to anyone just to listen to the narration by Smokey and Black, since they share a lot of their memories in the studio, how they came about meeting Timbo and even the making of 'Are You That Somebody', which of course has some Static and Aaliyah memories! With 49 classic joints mixed by Dj Supa and other respected DJ's in the game, you can't really go wrong! ;) Thank you for sharing these personal, fond memories, since it means everything to all of us Aaliyah/Playa fans :o)

Having just finished listening to this mixtape, all I can say is that this really makes me miss the sound of the 90's. Timbo's innovation in music back then was so ahead of it's time, it amazes me how all of those classic joints still have no expiration date! The fact that Timbo and Ginuwine have announced of them finally coming together to work on a new project, truly gives me hope for Timbo to bring some of that old skool flavor we all know and love from the man. It's about time these two finally united right? So make sure you keep tabs on them, because I have a feeling Timbo is gonna bring back some of that magic back in the game, so watch out!

I have said this before, but I will say this again. I really think musically, Timbaland's music got effected by the tragic loss of our beloved Babygirl, and since than, he has never been quite the same. However, recently I have heard a lot of new beats from Timbaland through a new artist call Tink (who y'all should check out since she can sing and rap!), and I feel a part of him has finally woken up and realised what is missing from the music industry. With that being said, I am positive that we shall be hearing some greatness from Timbo in the new year to come. :o) ;)

BJ The Chicago Kid - One In A Million (Tribute To Aaliyah, R.Kelly & Jodeci)

So, I am all for tributes being done with respect and dignity when it comes to Aaliyah, and I happened to come across this tribute, thanks to one of my followers @chiineey who kindly shared this with me ;) I was blown away at not only at the fact that he was covering Aaliyah's One In A Million but also covering R.Kelly's- R&B Thug and Jodeci's- Feenin' under this classic Timbaland beat! Wow! All I can say is that is the best tribute I have heard in a LONG time! Thank you for honoring our Queen in the best way that she rightly deserves.

For all those who are always on the search for new music, look no further and check out this guy BJ The Chicago Kid via his main site... www.bjtck.com where you can download his album for FREE! Aaliyah Archives: Da Bassment Demo Tape

So recently, I mentioned to you all about the 20th Anniversary of Da Bassment crew. Since I have never heard these rare demo tracks before, I decided to give them a listen, and to my surprise...I came across ONE particular track where I recognised the beat/sample straight away. In fact two artists! Aaliyah (which was pretty much a no brainer, since this is an Aaliyah blog lol) and Ginuwine. This particular track features the likes of Virginia, Missy Elliott with production from Timbaland himself titled 'Let Me In Your Life'. If you listen carefully, the beginning beat sounds very similar to Ginuwine's 'When Doves Cry' on his album The Bachelor (a cover version he did of the original by Prince for those who are not familiar). Then as we get into the track more, I hear a sample which has been used in Aaliyah's 'Heartbroken' from her One In A Million album. Peep the first video below and skip straight to 16:24 to listen. I gotta say I am actually feeling this! Has such a 90's nostalgia vibe. You can also listen to some of the other demo tracks too, if you are curious. I happen to have more tracks for all those interested, so if anyone wishes to have this demo tape, email me via theaaliyaharchives@gmail.com and I shall personally email it to you.

Anyhoo, peep the videos below to compare and contrast these sounds. I have also included the original sample which was used for Aaliyah's Heartbroken which was from 'Minnie Riperton – Inside My Love' (skip to 3:07 on the video to hear the sample)

Now, I was meant to do a dedication a good few weeks ago for Static Major, since it would of been his birthday on 11th November, but juggling work, family and friends is a tricky business, so my next few posts will be in dedication to the man who was behinds Aaliyah's music style and lyrical content. A lot, of Aaliyah and Static Major/Playa fans will already know about this mixtape above, but for those who have been trying to look for this, or have simply come across this now, you have come to the right place. Any one who would like to get a hold of this please contact me via theaaliyaharchives@gmail.com

Personally, I always find it quite intriguing listening to demo versions, as these are the versions where you are testing out exactly how you want the final cut version to sound vocally. Above, you can find listed a majority of the tracks that Static Major sang over on Aaliyah's tracks, among other artists such as Pleasure P and Brandy.

Kendrick Lamar ft. Aaliyah: We Need A Drank (Mash Up)

Here's a little Wednesday treat for you all! :o) Now normally, I'm not a big fan of remixes/mash ups, but I gotta say when I heard this rendition I was blown away! The person who made this –Raheem D is someone who I have to give huge props to for making such a carefully though out piece, staying true to our beloved Babygirl's style. In all honesty, I actually prefer this version to Kendrick Lamar's original, since the arrangements blend so well. Good work Mr! Just to show some love check out his mixtape: Aaliyah The Mash Up Mixtape which you can purchase here via http://raheemdtv.bandcamp.com/. In the description for the mixtape he goes on to say –

"Finally, my Aaliyah mashup mixtape has arrived and has been finished! It features some of my most successful Aaliyah mashups from the past year and also includes a few new mashups. It features the likes of Robin Thicke, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and more. It includes the highly popular mashup 'Thinkin' Bout A Million' that currently has over 50 thousand views on YouTube and also includes 'Come Over And Demonstrate' a mashup which was shared by the very talented Jojo herself. I hope you enjoy this mashup mixtape and although we will never hear new music from Aaliyah herself I feel that making mixtape's like these help keep her legacy alive"

All I can say is that you won't be disappointed! Oh and because I am so nice, I've also added another mashup joint of his down below! Happy listening everyone!  :o)

Aaliyah: Quit Hatin' (Unreleased Track)

Released: 2013
Recorded: Unknown
Label: Blackground Records

Hello my fellow Babygirl fans out there! :o) Now here's an unreleased track that not many people have heard. I originally was going to upload it as a video like I normally do to share the audio content, but for legal reasons Blackground Records decided to banish the track on youtube, so for anyone who is searching for this track on youtube and suddenly come across a blank audio, that is why. If you would like me to send you this track personally, please email me at theaaliyaharchives@gmail.com.

The track itself came out randomly this year, and obviously a lot of buzz was going around it. Anyone who is a fan knows that this is like new music for our hearts and souls, so to hear our beloved Babygirl on something unheard of is very refreshing :o) Now, from what I know, the song is a remix mash up of Aaliyah's other unreleased songs titled Don't Be Jealous and He Keeps Me Shakin' which you can pick up on when you listen to the lyrics where Aaliyah sings – 'Quit Hatin' on him, don't be jealous'.

As for samples, you all know me, I have a good ear when it comes to picking up on certain lyrics and musical content, and to my surprise I realised that there is a certain part from Quit Hatin' which has been used on A$AP Rocky's – F**kin' Problems ft. Drake, 2 Chainz & Kendrick Lamar. Notedly Aaliyah's 'ohhhh' chanting which is played throughout the whole of F**kin' Problems. The only difference? The pitch shift to disguise the fact that it's been used. Y'all can't fool me! lol! Ok now because I am so nice, I am going to share the audio content of Quit Hatin' via my own personal tumblr page, so feel free to follow! :o) But anyhoo, I hope you enjoy this track as much as I did since it sounds so fresh. Enjoy guys! :o)

Listen here for: Aaliyah – Quit Hatin'

Lil' Kim ft. Aaliyah & The Notorious B.I.G.: Queen Bee

Released: November 12th 1996
Recorded: 1995 – 1996
Label: Undeas/Big Beat

Hey guys! :o) Here's a track which Aaliyah is featured on with 90's Hip-Hop Queen Lil' Kim and Hip-Hop legend Biggie Smalls. I discovered the track from the mixtape – The Aaliyah Duets Album which showcases some of Babygirl's best duets alongside other performing artists and groups. You can download the mixtape here via http://www.datpiff.com/Aaliyah-The-Aaliyah-Duets-Album-mixtape.10680.html.

The track itself is called Queen Bee in comparison to the uncensored version called Queen Bitch which obviously Babygirl is not featured on. Aaliyah isn't really singing much on this, however, when she sings the hook 'I'm the Queen' all I gotta say is yess! Bow down! lol! Aaliyah was the Queen in her own right, the way she sings it sounds so hauntingly beautiful it's captivating. Now again, you know all me, I like to know where all the samples come from. If we look at the very core roots of the sample, it actually originates from Roberta Flack's – Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye. If you listen to the song carefully at 2:50 you will hear the piano riff which has been sampled. You can check this out down below to compare and contrast.

Now, I'm not done yet, because I have heard this same classic piano riff in so many other songs, that it's only fair I share it with you guys. When we talk about Lil' Kim, we all know how close she was with Biggie both on the mic with their lyrical content and off the scenes with their relation. Biggie in fact helped Lil' Kim on this lyrically, since she was learning the ropes of how a rapper should deliver, so below I have also uploaded the original Queen Bitch which was written by Biggie himself. Last but not least, we have Mary J. Blige ft. Lil' Kim's – I Can Love You. Again this song also samples the piano riff, and who can blame them, it's so catchy that it would make anyone want to listen to it. Anyhoo, for all you music lovers out there, sit back, listen and enjoy! :o)
