Static Major: CEO (Demo Song Originally For Aaliyah) EXCLUSIVE

Ok I am completely hyped right now because guess what? CEO has officially been uploaded by You Know I Got Soul. If you remember from one of my last posts, we were left with a teaser, with just the lyrics and no backing track or vocals to go together, but now we finally get to hear what would of been something that Aaliyah would of released had she still been alive. Below you can listen to the track produced by our man Bud'da. The demo itself was done by Static Major back in 2000, and seeing that the 25th of this month will mark 6 years since Static Majors passing, You Know I got Soul felt that it was the right time to release the track. All I can say is that this sounds so hot and fresh! Definitely would of been a hit for sure! I'm am in such awe right now, I can actually imagine Babygirl singing this! Now you can all enjoy this track with the lyrics too! Happy listening! :o)

CEO Lyrics
Verse 1
Being in love is hard (it’s like a job)
That’s why I make it a point to step to, each issue we go through (it’s always something new)
I gotta keep up my guard (being in charge)
Can’t let no one give me heart breaks
It’s one thing when you explain (minds do change)
Pre-hook
Who you fussing with?
I’m the only boss that can boss around here
I’m the CEO, Stay on your job, Or you can be replaced
Don’t you order me, Cuz I’m calling the shots that go on around here
You can’t tell me no, I send you home
Thought I’d let you know that
Chorus
I’ll be running the show, I’m CEO, I’m in control, that’s how it rolls
If you didn’t know the scenario, I run the show
I’ll be running the show, I’m CEO, I’m in control, that’s how it rolls
If you didn’t know the scenario, I run the show
Verse 2
I’ve got to wear the pants in a true romance,
That’s the only way we’ll ever stand a chance
So I ain’t taking orders from a man, You got to understand
See I can work with you, long as you are true
Change out the blue and I’ll start taking interviews
Let me give you a list of my demands, never raise your hand
If you didn’t know the scenario, I run the show
I’ll be running the show, I’m CEO, I’m in control, that’s how it rolls
If you didn’t know the scenario, I run the show
I’ll be running the show, I’m CEO, I’m in control, that’s how it rolls
If you didn’t know the scenario, I run the show
Bridge
I’m gonna keep handling my business baby
Cuz I’m a real lady
And I hope you take care of your business baby
I wanna be your lady

The Aaliyah Archives: News

Wooooo I cannot wait for this! :D :o) I shall definitely be keeping a close watch on this, so stay tuned everyone!

Aaliyah: Rare Photo

Shoutout to @teesmif for this rare, dope gem! As you can all tell, this is from the video set of Biggie's 'One More Chance' featuring the likes of Da Brat, P.Diddy, and Jermaine Dupri Enjoy guys! :o)

Rashad Haughton On Aaliyah: Little Sister Lost, Teen Vogue Spring, 2002

Shoutout to Came To Give Love for sharing this article. We rarely ever get to see how Aaliyah's brother, Rashad Haughton felt at the time, as you can tell, it's definitely a heart felt read which I can truly relate to, particularly on the subject of 'dreams'. Sometimes when we lose someone dear to us, we often have dreams about them as a message/sign which helps us through the grieving/healing process. What is important is keeping the memories of that person alive, so with us being her loyal, true fans we have indeed helped maintain that very memory of her through, drawings, writings, blogs etc... Gone but never forgotten, you shall always remain in our hearts! One love <3

The Aaliyah Archives: News

Hey guys! Sorry I have not been posting as much as I used to, I lead a busy life as you all know, and running a blog by yourself is definitely not an easy job, since it requires a lot of hard work and dedication. Having said that, there is always time for Babygirl in my life and I shall forever maintain her legacy and archive for all to enjoy. Now, this news came out awhile ago, but for those who are not aware of this I'm sharing it for all of you. I'm not one for posting any hate or negativity since that's not my style, but if you guys remember awhile ago Drake posted a small video snippet via Instagram showing a sneak peak song featuring unreleased vocals from our beloved Babygirl. This was originally meant to be used for a release of a posthumous Aaliyah album however, this later got scrapped due to Noah '40' Shebib and Aaliyah's very own Mother Diane Haughton, who expressed very strongly on how they did not want any part on this venture.

However, this did not stop Drake who showcased the song in an NYC Club, partying it up with the likes of French Montana. The actual track itself is titled 'Talk Is Cheap'. Personally, I feel that Drizzy has crossed the line here, since he is going against the wishes of Aaliyah's family by putting out stuff which they feel should not be out. A little respect never hurt anybody right? I aint gonna lie though, hearing these unreleased vocals only makes me wonder what other material she had created in the short amount of time she had to live, and as a true fan who has loved her music before all the Drake/Chris Brown hype it's always nice to come across rare stuff. Anyhoo, below is a video where Drake was blasting the track in the club. Something tells me that he is gonna go ahead with the album despite what others think. I guess only time will tell hey? Shoutout to Rapdose who decided to share this footage with everyone.

The Aaliyah Archives: News

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been so long, but I have some great news for you all out there. Now many of us Aaliyah fans out there have been waiting on a different version of Steady Ground for quite some time now, since You Know I Got Soul confirmed awhile ago last year of different arrangements/vocals without Static Major. However here is the official J-Dub remix of Babygirl's Steady Ground, who was also responsible for the production of the original version. I'm guessing J-Dub decided to keep Static Major's parts after all, which I'm kind of happy about since Static Major was responsible for a lot of Aaliyah's lyrical content. Above you can see that J-Dub describes the new remix as "different arrangement. Different mix. Longer then original ".

Simple yet effective! I love it! All I can say is thank you so much for this remix. It has truly made my day and I hope it does for all of you folks out there too! The intro alone has already got me hooked. Anyone who would like me to send them this remix personally, or for any questions/queries you may have, please do not hesitate to contact me via theaaliyaharchives@gmail.com Happy Listening everyone! :o)
