On August 25th, I came home from work and took a nap. I was awakened to have someone ask me if I’d heard the news. That she was gone. I was in disbelief. I denied that it was true. I thought the person was playing around, and I said that’s not funny. I was told to turn on the television and my stomach dropped. I had spoken to her a year prior about life and everyday stuff. On this day I lost a friend and the world lost a light. Aaliyah was one of those people you only meet once in a lifetime. She was my friend, she was a light to the world, and she was a beautiful soul. This image I took of her as we were playing around one day in school with no teacher supervision.
