What's good #TeamAaliyah? I thought it's been awhile since I've done an update on the site, so for those who do not know, I recently decided to embark on a journey of launching my own art store for all of my Aaliyah artwork. It's something which I have personally wanted to do for a very long time now, as well as doing something personal and meaningful for The Haughton's. With each purchase, a small percentage of the proceeds will go towards the Aaliyah Memorial Fund, this is just my little way of giving back to The Haughton Family 🙏💚

The wait is finally over! As promised, here is an exclusive, never before seen image of Aaliyah (the first out of a series of three in total!) courtesy of photographer Eric Johnson, who has launched his own shop with full family approval from the Haughtons, as well as Aaliyah's estate. You can keep tabs on his store via his Instagram page @shop_upstairsaterics for more information. The t-shirt will be available to order on the 28th March, (in exactly a weeks time) so be sure not miss out on this amazing opportunity! All proceeds will go to the Aaliyah Memorial Fund, as well as other various charities that Aaliyah held dear to her heart.

I shot the photo & we're working with Aaliyah's family/estate unlike all of those counterfeit pieces that you've seen out there using images from this shoot illegally."
I'm not sure if many of you are aware of this, but there tends to be a lot of clothing apparels these days who try to make a quick buck off anyone's name (especially deceased artists, who are no longer in the physical) including Aaliyah, who we all know is well known worldwide. Awhile back, Eric had to personally sue a few clothing lines as a result of illegally using his photo's, without his consent. Quite frankly, I can totally understand this, as some of these clothing lines do not even have family approval, nor do they give anything back towards the memorial fund. (This excludes Urban Escence Apparel however, who are another great store, with full family approval from The Haughtons :D)

So my next few posts will be related to fashion, and how we can use the fashion industry as a way of showing remembrance and honor of people who impacted our lives gratefully. The first one I'll be talking about is someone who is very well known within the dedicated, true Aaliyah fan community. AaliyahAlwayshas been around for quite some time now, and probably one of my main reliable sources when it comes to anything Aaliyah related. I can honestly say that one of my biggest inspirations came from this blog alone, as I too wanted to showcase my love and remembrance but in a different way. As you all know, our beloved Babygirl was highly into her fashion, and even spoke about owning her own fashion label. Unfortunately, she didn't have the chance for that to become a reality until now, and it's all thanks to all these dedicated Aaliyah fans, who continue to grow and keep her memory alive.
Now that's not all! What I admire most about AaliyahAlways is how they are giving back to charity through this clothing branch. What makes it even better is that you can too! How you ask? Well...any commission made of these purchased merchandises are donated directly to the Aaliyah Memorial Fund which you can find on the official Aaliyah website. The memorial fund has helped a lot of good causes and in detail this is what it says for those who are unaware...
