Amorphous: 22 EP (Aaliyah Tribute)

If you haven't already, be sure to check out a very special EP mix from Amorphous, who created this beautiful tribute in memory of our beloved Babygirl. As you all know, I'm a big fan of anything creative, so I thought this would be nice to share with everyone. For a more in depth look, here's a detailed description from Amorphous himself...

"It's been fourteen years since we've lost our beautiful angel, and somehow, I still find solace and comfort listening to her soothing voice. I was only four when she passed away, yet I was already a huge fan. My brother went out of his way to purchase two copies of the 'Aaliyah' album the day it came out, on July 17th, 2001. Aaliyah has impacted my life in tremendous ways. She's pushed me to be more positive, a better producer, and overall a better person. I only thought it was right that I do something big this year.

So here you have it! The '22' EP, a collection of remixes and original tracks all dedicated to and/or sampling her music. Featuring my critically acclaimed remix of 'Rock The Boat', '22' boasts club ready remixes of 'One In A Million', and '4 Page letter'. Along with remixes, including the Timbaland inspired 'We Need A Resolution' remix, the EP also includes original tracks, such as the house banger 'January', the experimental '1979' and 'Dreams', as well as the soundtrack-esque '2001' - a track dedicated to the year we lost our beloved angel. Worked on this for about a year now, truly from the bottom of my heart. Hope you guys enjoy."

I was meant to post this awhile ago, but better late than never right? ;) I happened to come across a video courtesy of AaliyahAlways via Tumblr, who kindly shared this video posted from etonline.com. They briefly talked about Janet Jackson's letter to Aaliyah (on the day of the 14 year death anniversary), with talks on Timbaland, Missy Elliot, as well as showing a small snippet of Aaliyah at the 2000, MTV Video Music Awards. It was definitely a breath of fresh air to myself when I watched it, since I have never seen this particular footage before. So I hope this will brighten everyone's day, no matter where they are! As this August comes to a very quick end, Rashad left a special message for all of #TeamAaliyah, back on the 25th of Aaliyah's 14 year death anniversary, for anyone who happened to miss this. 

It's hard to believe that 14 years have passed by since our beloved Babygirl no longer remains with us in the physical form. However, she will always continue to remain with us in spirit just based on her influence alone, through both fashion and music. All these years and I'm proud to say that myself, along with all the other great fans I have come across, still holding down her legacy in the most positive way we know how (including the younger generation who have the best, perfect role model anyone could ever ask for!).

No matter how long a person goes, the raw pain still remains, so as always I will continue to keep The Haughton's in my prayers to give them the strength they need to battle each passing day, month and year. I believe this month has been a very blessed and special one based on the amount of rare photo's we've come across, as well as the MAC campaign which was launched to give Aaliyah her very own signature collection.
