Aaliyah Archives News: Official Aaliyah Fragrance Tribute (Unisex) By Xyrena

Edit made by yours truly! :o)

Pre-order your Official Unisex Aaliyah fragrance by Xyrena via www.xyrena.com. For those who live overseas like myself, Rashad is currently working on releasing a special version for international markets by the end of the week. So please be patient and stay tuned! ;)

Remember that 5% on all purchases go straight to the AaliyahMemorialFund, a charity very dear to all us fans, especially The Haughtons. Please note that for anyone who signed the #AaliyahForMAC petition, Rashad has made it very clear that everyone should purchase this fragrance, along with the Official Aaliyah Merchandise courtesy of UrbanOutfitters (Which you can check out from my previous posts!). This is the only way we can help the MAC makeup campaign come to fruition. So if you would like this to happen, please help by showing your love and support! Remember that this is all for a good cause, so let’s make Babygirl proud! :o) One love!

A quote from the Xyrena site themselves who describes the scent as...

"Aaliyah™ by Xyrena is the first and only official fragrance tribute to the Princess of R&B. Developed in close collaboration with Diane & Rashad Haughton (the late singer and actress’s mother and brother), Xyrena crafted a true aromatic tribute inspired by actual fragrances Aaliyah wore. Aaliyah by Xyrena is unisex but leans masculine, as Aaliyah favored traditional men’s scents in line with her signature, sexy tomboy image. The formula is also a hue of black which was Aaliyah’s favorite color. Aaliyah by Xyrena has base notes of vanilla, sandalwood, amber, and jasmine; middle notes of black pepper, violet and leather; with top notes of mint, lavender and mandarin.

5% of all sales from this release will be donated to The Aaliyah Memorial Fund."

I'm really happy that they are using a mixture of actual scents which Aaliyah wore herself. Some people may think it's another gimmick, but it's definitely far from that, since both Diane and Rashad have taken a lot into consideration into preserving Aaliyah's legacy, and rightly so! I've been waiting for something like this for years, so the fact that it is actually happening, truly warms my heart. Thank you Diane and Rashad for taking the time and effort into making all these ventures possible. I know Aaliyah would be very proud. :o) If that's not all...check out the dope video promo for the fragrance below, to give you a better feel of what it's all about! Enjoy! ;)

Aaliyah Archives: News

As this August comes to a very quick end, Rashad left a special message for all of #TeamAaliyah, back on the 25th of Aaliyah's 14 year death anniversary, for anyone who happened to miss this.

It's hard to believe that 14 years have passed by since our beloved Babygirl no longer remains with us in the physical form. However, she will always continue to remain with us in spirit just based on her influence alone, through both fashion and music. All these years and I'm proud to say that myself, along with all the other great fans I have come across, still holding down her legacy in the most positive way we know how (including the younger generation who have the best, perfect role model anyone could ever ask for!).

No matter how long a person goes, the raw pain still remains, so as always I will continue to keep The Haughton's in my prayers to give them the strength they need to battle each passing day, month and year. I believe this month has been a very blessed and special one based on the amount of rare photo's we've come across, as well as the MAC campaign which was launched to give Aaliyah her very own signature collection. (Petition link is...https://www.change.org/p/mac-cosmetics-estee-lauder-to-release-a-aaliyah-for-mac-limited-edition-collection-aaliyahformac?recruiter=128552080&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink if you have not signed already) I'm also eagerly anticipating on Timbaland's unreleased track as well as what aaliyah.com are going to launch. Exciting things are happening and I just can't wait any longer! :D

Aaliyah Archives: News

Big thanks to @surferguy01 for clearing any doubts that we may of had before. It seems as though Alex Shipp has been lying in regards to 'contacting' Missy Elliot, and we all know that Missy keeps it REAL. Not only is she tarnishing Aaliyah's legacy, she has the audacity to lie to one of Aaliyah's closest friends? If that's not worse, I have seen a lot of attacks lashed out on Alex Shipp's younger Brother. Now, I don't agree with this at all, since people should not be dragging her Brother for Alex's mistakes. But having said that, karma has a funny way of working. Maybe now she'll realise the hurt and pain Rashad and Diane are feeling at this very moment in time, because God bless them, they truly are the strongest people I know.

The only thing that gives me a peace of mind, is knowing that Missy Elliot keeps in contact with The Haughton's, in regards to our undying support and love. This honestly warms my heart, to the bottom of my soul. Lord knows that #TeamAaliyah has had many sleepless nights over this fiasco, but rest assure that The Haughton's know of our love, so continue to keep doing what you're doing. We all owe it to Aaliyah to keep her legacy alive, and for her to be remembered for the right reasons based on FACTS, not some other person's exaggerated version of events.

The Aaliyah Archives: News

When we come across pictures like the one shown above of Tupac and Babygirl, automatically we are intrigued, wondering whether the both of them ever met. Sometimes it's very hard to tell, since technology has advanced so much to the point where we can barely recognise what is fake and what is reality. When we look at magazines, adverts etc...they portray to us the perfect body image, which are so heavily edited with photoshop, that we cannot tell, unless someone tells/shows us directly. As you can see, Aaliyah's very own brother Rashad Haughton has confirmed this for all those who were curious about the topic. With that being said, it's nice to see two legends in one image who have both been very cleverly edited together in a 'real life scenario'. It's true what they so though, the good die too young. May they both R.I.P.

Aaliyah: Where Could He Be ft. Missy Elliot & Tweet (Unreleased Track)

Released: February 10th 2005 (Leaked)
Recorded: 2001
Label: Blackground Records

Where Could He Be is a rare unreleased track which leaked around February 2005, and features the likes of Missy Elliot and Tweet as backing vocals. The song was originally meant to be included on Aaliyah's final studio album, but never made it to the cut. During 2005, the song got a lot of air play on the radio, and was expected to serve as a single for her second posthumous album titled The Aaliyah Duets Album. However, Blackground was not having any of this and stated that the track was illegally leaked, thus resulting all radio stations to remove the song. Quite a shame really, because the song was so popular on radio stations that it almost managed to chart on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart.

Now as for samples you all know me, I had to go to the very root of of this one. If you listen to the chorus, you'll notice that it actually samples Lisa Stanfields – All Around The World (classic 90's joint) which you can find down below to compare. Anyhoo, please check out the videos below and enjoy guys! :o)

Aaliyah Dana Haughton: 12 Year Anniversary Tribute

Rare Image

As you all know, today marks Babygirl's 12 year death anniversary. For me, I always tend to have mixed feelings on this particular day, as it is also my fathers birthday. So on one side of the spectrum it denotes a time to celebrate a life that began, and on the other side it shows a time where we remember a person who's life was tragically taken away and ended. Either way both have one thing in common, and that's remembering and honoring that persons life whether they be alive or no longer with us in the physical form.

No words can describe during that very day how I felt, when I found out about the news of Aaliyah's passing. I think that we can all agree as fans, that we will remember exactly what we were doing during that time, when we heard the news. It's also crazy to think that's it's already been 12 years! Time just flies by hey? As a tribute here's a fan made video using a track which was in remembrance of Babygirl from Missy Elliot called Take Away. You can find this song on Missy's third studio album titled Miss E... So Addictive. The track also features guest appearances from Ginuwine and Tweet who feature on the main single version, in comparison to the album version which features background vocals from 702's group member Kameelah Williams. This song is very touching and heartfelt, and the video embodies the beautiful person that she was inside and out.

I'm also sharing with you guys a tribute made video titled 'The Creation Of The Aaliyah Tribute' from Necole Bitchie who posted this two years ago. You'll find a variety of celebrities/artists who talk about what they found most endearing and inspiring about our beloved Babygirl. Gone but never forgotten, here's to keeping her music and memory alive. You truly were an angel. R.I.P.
