Aaliyah Archives News: One In A Million (A Special Fan Tribute)

As you all know, the 20th anniversary for the One In A Million album will be approaching in the next 4 months, and as a special tribute, one of my favourite #TeamAaliyah fan pages Maximum Aaliyah (a.k.a- Sabrina) has decided to create a special book which ALL of us can contribute to! :D For me personally, this is my favourite album out of all the Aaliyah albums for many reasons, since it really got me into her music.

So you're probably wondering right now, "How can I take part?" and "What do I have to do?" Well it's quite simple, Sabrina herself has listed a few things which she requires from all of us, so without further a due here goes...

1) Write a text about the album (e.g: How you knew about it, your favourite songs, your memories, etc... The text MUST contain at least 15/20 lines!

2) Take a picture of yourself with the CD, cassette, vinyl of 'One In A Million'. You can also add promo items from this era to your picture if you want to!

3) And finally... send them all to aaliyah71@hotmail.fr

Remember that this book will be sent to Ferncliff Cemetery, where Aaliyah's gravesite resides in New York. Sabrina will hopefully be visiting New York around end of August/beginning of September. If she is unable to go, the book will still be sent regardless, so don't miss out on a great opportunity for all of us fans to unite and come together in a positive way. Awhile ago, there was another anniversary tribute we did for the Age Ain't Nothing But A Number album which you can check out here. I think this is such an amazing idea and one which I will definitely contribute to. Thank you Sabrina for all that you do! You really live up to your fan page name 'Maximum Aaliyah' ;) :D

Aaliyah Archives: News (EXCLUSIVE)

So as you guys know, I recently shared with you all some video snippets from producer Eric Seats who worked with the red album crew. He was kind enough to share his original working files from Aaliyah's Rock The Boat and It's Whatever, plus and added bonus of a never before heard official remix of Rock The Boat, which was created back in 2001! Wow! All I can say is that this sounds really current! Hardly surprising considering how Aaliyah's last album still sounds fresh to this day. All the producers on this album really knew what they were doing, and it shows since they have created longevity within their body of work.

Now we all know that this year has been a tough one for all TRUE Aaliyah fans out there, with everything that has been going on with this 'film drama'. I refuse to even acknowledge this ignorance on my blog anymore, since I just wanna keep it drama and negative free. I began this journey of blogging through positivity and it shall remain that way! :o)

With every bad moment, some good always tends to prevail over, and I am so excited to announce that all the producers from Aaliyah's self titled red album, will be uniting to make a special tribute on her 36th Birthday next year! How dope is that right? :D I have already shared with you a couple remixes which have come to surface already, so my guesses are that a remix album might be in the works. Ok, so I am not one for blowing my own trumpet, as I am humble as they can get, but I remember ages ago speaking to Eric Seats and mentioned the idea of a remix album and how all the producers from that album should come together. Here is the conversation we had which you can view below...

As you can see Eric agreed :o) I was also being a little cheeky towards the end! Lol! Can't blame a girl for trying though! ;) To hear Aaliyah's accapella on her red album would be amazing though! :D With that being said, I am glad the man has stuck by his word, because now, he's putting everything into action! Woooo! :D Seats also mentioned that he is planning to put the Rock The Boat (remix) version on his Sidooo Vol 2 album. So be sure to peep that out in the near future. If you still need more convincing, here's another conversation with the likes of J-Dub, Bud'da and Smoke E. Digglera talking about this special Birthday tribute :o)

And here's another one where Eric Seats himself, confirms this with one of my favorite Aaliyah fan pages Maximum Aaliyah ;) 2015 definitely plans on being a good year for all Aaliyah fans! Are you ready? #TeamAaliyah ;) :D

The Aaliyah Archives: News

Shout out to Sabrina for mentioning me on her AANBAN Anniversary Tribute book. I am hugely flattered and honored! Thanks girl! :o)

Hey guys! Hope everyone is all good :o) Now, if all of you remember awhile back, I mentioned an AANBAN Anniversary tribute book which was going to be personally made by Sabrina owner of http://maximum-aaliyah.tumblr.com/. The purpose of this Aaliyah Project was to bring all Aaliyah fans together from around the world to pay homage, and add their own little tribute of themselves repping the Age Ain't Nothing But A Number album. The book will be with Babygirl at her grave site, which is located at Ferncliff Cemetery, New York. Other contributions were also allowed from written poems, letters, drawings etc... So firstly, to all those devoted and true fans who contributed and helped with this project, I would like to say a huge thank you to you all! This project would not of happened without your support and help, and it's a great feeling knowing that we all came together in honor of our beloved Babygirl. Diane and Rashad Haughton would be touched and proud of all of you.

Here are some sneak peak previews of what the book currently looks like, along with Sabrina's dedication and contribution below. Enjoy my lovelies! One love! :o)

The Aaliyah Archives: News

So awhile ago I posted about an Aaliyah Project that Sabrina (who also goes under the name of Maximum-Aaliyah) proposed to everyone. If you don't remember, check out my last post via the link here for further information. Personally, I thought this was a great idea since it would be a nice tribute for Babygirl's AANBAN 20th anniversary, so to help spread the word I decided to help her, by promoting this via my blog page.

I'm not one to be so negative but I am highly disappointed in the lack of response towards this project. In total, there are only 12 pictures that have been submitted so far, and as you are all aware this is not a sufficient amount if it is going to be printed up as a book. We need all of you fans out there to unite and come together if we have any chance for this special project to happen, otherwise if there isn't enough pictures, well I'm afraid the whole project will not take place, and that would be such a shame right?

Originally the closing date for all submissions WAS May 5th, but you now have until May 12th to submit your AANBAN memorabilia/tribute to Sabrina via  aaliyah71@hotmail.fr. If you are stuck for ideas, here's a quote from Sabrina outlining the details for this project...

"I have only 12 pictures for my #Aaliyah project for the 20th anniversary of Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number! It’s not enough to print a whole book!  You had originally untill May 5th to send me a picture of you reppin’ the album to the fullest with your name and country by mail at: aaliyah71@hotmail.fr
I’ll let you until May 12th to send me more pictures cause I really would like to bring the book at Ferncliff on June to let the Haughton family know that we think about them and Aaliyah! I’m sure they’d appreciate this gift from us, her fans! If on May 12th I haven’t at least 25 pictures, the project won’t happen…
Do not forget: your picture must contain an item in reference to the album Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number (it can be a picture of Aaliyah during this era, a poster, the album, a promotional item…)! Just let shine your imagination and dedication :) ;)
Thank you to all the fans who spread the word and try to make it happen, you ‘ll be credited on the back cover of the book of course!"

The Aaliyah Archives: News

My personal AANBN album cover as my poster in my room.

Hey guys! Hope everyone is all well. Now you are all probably wondering what that last tweet was about? But for those who are unaware listen up! I have a special project to announce to all the fans out there, so if you would like to take part, read on for further details. Now, since it's coming close to the 20th Anniversary of Aaliyah's Age Ain't Nothing But A Number album (to be precise May 24th) as a special tribute one of our fellow Aaliyah bloggers and fans are planning to visit New York, Ferncliff (the very place where Aaliyah's gravesite resides) around June time to pay homage to our beloved Babygirl, and also on our behalf for those who are unable to visit. She goes by the name of Sabrina who is the owner of maximum-aaliyah.skyrock.com and maximum-aaliyah.tumblr.com. You can also catch her here via Twitter

Part of this project is where you guys come in. Sabrina herself will be making a printed book collecting pictures of all fans repping the 'AANBN' album. Anyone who would like to take part, please send all pictures to aaliyah71@hotmail.fr. Please note that ALL submissions MUST be received by MAY 5th. If you wish to submit your own personal tribute e.g.– drawings/sketches/poems/writings etc... please make sure they are an appropriate size since Sabrina will personally be taking these with her in her suitcase, so lets help keep her luggage load at a good weight! Lol! As you can see, I have posted my own personal AANBN album cover for this particular post, so I shall no doubt have to take this down and insert it back into my CD case and strike my very best pose. :o) You can also read Sabrina's personal message about this where she said...

"Aaliyah fans & lovers I have an idea to allow you to participate to my trip to New York at the end of June! I wanted you to be able to bring a tribute to Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number for its 20th anniversary! This was the first album of our angel and I think it’s important to show some love and to celebrate it! I prepare something personal but in addition to that I’d like to print a book with pictures of fans reppin the album! I think it would be a fabulous way to show your love and dedication to Aaliyah! And I’m sure that Diane and Rashad would love it ;)
If you want to be a part of the project, you can send me your picture to: aaliyah71@hotmail.fr All pictures must be received on May 5th! So that I can work on the book and print it (it’s long).I’ll post in most of the groups and pages about Aaliyah, if you want to help this project, please spread the word, I hope I’ll have at least 20 pics to make a beautiful book, I already know how the cover front and back will be :)I’ll as usual take pictures of the book at Ferncliff so that you can live the moment with me.Thank you"

Awww...how sweet of her! I genuinely think this is such a great idea, so please spread the word everyone, it would mean a lot! One Love <3
