I was the #editorinchief of #HoneyMagazine at the time, and had just interviewed her for our next #cover. It was Aaliyah’s last #interview before her death… We were supposed to do the cover #photoshoot when she got back from that fateful trip to the Bahamas. I was in Toronto, at a conference for women in the #entertainmentindustry, on August 25, 2001, the day of her tragic death. I’ll never forget the ballroom full of pagers going off and the shock and the tears. The group prayer… Then the rush back to NYC to put together a fitting #tribute issue. I miss Aaliyah's #spirit and #creativity all the time. She was guarded and shy, but still projected #confidence and #sensuality.
